School Policies

Accidents and illness: If a student is injured on the school grounds or on the bus, and the injury is other than what appears to be minor to the school staff, the parents will be notified and asked to pick up the child for their own observation or examination by the family physician.  If a student becomes ill during school, the parent will be contacted by the school and the child will be brought to the sick room.

Attendance: (Utah's Compulsory Attendance Law mandates attendance) A successful school experience is the responsibility of the child, the parents, and the school.  There is a correlation between your child's progress, both academic and social, and his or her participation at school.  We encourage that children not be allowed to stay home unless they are ill.  If a student is ill or an emergency arises, parents should call the school to report the absence.

Bicycles, Skateboards,Scooters or Rollerblades: These items should be left at home and not brought onto school grounds.  The school has no place to secure these items, and cannot be held responsible for loss or damage.

Check in : Students not in their classrooms by 8:40 am will be considered tardy unless they are excused by a parent or guardian.  Students arriving to school after 9:00 am will be required to check in with a parent excuse at the office.

Check out: Students will only be released to a legal guardian, or person(s) listed on the emergency card. NO STUDENT WILL BE ALLOWED TO WALK HOME DURING THE SCHOOL DAY.  STUDENTS WILL ONLY BE CHECKED OUT TO A LEGAL GUARDIAN OR PERSON DESIGNATED ON THE SCHOOL REGISTRATION FORM. Teachers are instructed not to release students from their classes to parents unless notified by the office.  If students must leave school early, parents must check them out through the office. Learning time is valuable.  Please arrange for your children to attend the entire school day.

Books and Supplies: Students are responsible for proper care of school books, library books, etc. and must pay for any loss or damage.  Pencils, paper, and crayons will be provided
by the school.

Clothing: Please label all school clothing with student's names.  Students at Club Heights are expected to dress appropriately for school.
Tank tops, short shorts, short skirts, baggy clothing and shirts that show the midsection are not appropriate. Please see that your child's clothing is modest, clean, neat and appropriate for weather conditions. Clothing should provide adequate protection and comfort for the many, varied activities during the school day. Hats are not appropriate school wear. Hair color and style should be appropriate for school and not cause a disturbance to the student or class.

Emergency Information: Be sure the school has current phone numbers where you or a specified adult can be reached. Contact the school immediately if any
of the information needs to be changed or updated.  In the event of severe weather conditions or any emergency on a county-wide basis, an announcement will be made over the
following AM radio stations: KLO 1430, KSL 1160. We have written emergency preparedness plans for numerous possibilities that outline what will take place in the event of an emergency situation. Plans are reviewed with the faculty and staff on a monthly basis. Weber School District has a phone system in place to help contact parents
in the case of a school closure.  In the event of an emergency at school, students will remain under teacher supervision until a person listed on the emergency information is available to pick them up. If evacuation from the building is necessary, a command center will be set up at the Club Heights Park (weather permitting) or the LDS church building located on 300 West during inclement weather.

Field Trips: Your child will bring home a permission form giving the destination and date of any field trips. This form must be signed and returned to the teacher in order for your student to go on the field trip. Students riding the school bus to the field trip should return to school on the bus.

Gum: Gum is a very messy problem for our school. Please be sure students leave all gum and candy at home.  Occasionally, birthday treats are handed out at school.  As per policy of the Weber Morgan Health Department, homemade foods can not be brought to school and shared.

Lost and Found: Articles found, but not identified, are placed in a lost and found box in the office area. Unclaimed articles are given to charitable organizations at the end of
the school year.

Medications: No medication may be brought to school unless the proper forms have been completed, signed and filed with the secretary (this includes over the counter pain relievers). Students are now allowed to carry and use their asthma inhalers at school with signed authorizations from their parents and health care provider.

Money: When it is necessary to send money to school, please put it in a sealed envelope, and write the following information on the outside; child's name, homeroom teacher's name, grade level, amount, and what it is for.

Personal Items: Toys, electronic games, lasers, CD players, or any other items which will interfere with learning or are a safety hazard should not be brought to school unless teacher permission has been given for a specific activity. (see attached Digital Media Device Policy)  Absolutely no items are to be brought to school that resemble or could be used as a weapon.  (See attached Safe School Policy.)

Telephone Use: The school office phone should not be used by students except in an emergency. Students must get permission and a pass from their teacher to use the
phone.  Students will be allowed to use the telephone without a pass after 3:30 p.m. to contact parents.  This allows the phone lines to remain open for parents to call and also makes allowances for any rides that are running a little late.

Transportation to andfrom school:   Please discuss pedestrian safety with your students.

1.  Use sidewalks (where available) and crosswalks.

2.  Follow directions of crossing guard.

Picking up and dropping off your students:

1. Students should be dropped off and picked up in the north parking lot turn around.  Crosswalks should be followed onto school grounds.  Please do not drop off
students in the bus turn around and do not pick them up in the bus turn around after school.

2. Students should wait at the fire hydrant area and should wait to be called to the striped area when their vehicle has arrived. Parents should follow the directional arrows in
the parking lot to pick up students. Please be courteous and cautious. Our students are precious. NO CARS WILL BE PERMITTED IN THE BUS ZONES BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL. ONLY SCHOOL BUSES AND DESIGNATED DAY- CARE PROVIDERS  PARK IN THIS AREA.

Visitors: Club Heights Elementary is a great place to be.  Parents are welcome and encouraged to visit and volunteer at our school. The staff at Club Heights Elementary wish to keep
all students safe.  When you enter the school, please check in at the office and wear a visitor pass during your stay.  If you are interested in becoming a school volunteer, please contact the PTA officers, the teacher, or the school.
